FBA Sea Camp has been a 7th-grade FBA tradition for many years and is a favorite memory of our Lions.
Students spend three days in Key Largo at Marine Lab Key Largo exploring Florida’s unique marine ecosystems. Students understand the important role of protecting the world the Creator has entrusted to humanity and the intricacies of Florida’s surrounding habitats – mangroves, seagrasses, and coral reefs. Lions are participating in hands-on labs, classroom discussions, and guided snorkel tours where they are testing water quality, journeying through small mangrove creeks, viewing the microscopic world of plankton or microplastics, searching for small creatures on living rocks, and dissecting algae clusters to find unusual animals. Share your favorite memory from Sea Camp below.
“But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.” Job 12:7-10
